Brief Description: Picked Up Parts for 10' Bending Brake
Decided to do a 10' version of Dave Clay's Bending Brake. It is relatively inexpensive ($175) and the reports are that it does a fine job with all the bends needed in the aircraft. Bought my angle iron and square tubing at B&B Metals in Santa Ana and had all pieces cut in 10 foot lengths. Later made a trip to Aircraft Spruce for the piano hinges (3' and 6') and 125 cherry rivets (MSP54). Finally a trip to Ace Hardware for the nuts, bolts and washers. When I got home and measured, the three pieces of 3"x3"x1/4" angle iron were all different lengths, so I pulled out the trusty (formerly rusty) horizontal metal bandsaw and let it do its thing. There is no substitute for the right tool, especially one that comes cheap. (Time: 4.0 hours)
