While I took care of a dozen or so minor wiring tasks, the big accomplishment tonight was the installation of my V10 comm radio and connection to the antenna. On advice from Matt at MGL, I mounted a small forest of .25" tabs on my negative post of the battery and ran the grounds for the V10 and my transponder directly to that point. Before I installed the radio, I should mention that I riveted the center console to the panel / center support so everything is rigid now. The last thing I did was plug in my headset and fire up the system. Immediately I was able to hear myself through the audio panel. While the V10 was set to John Wayne tower (126.8), I was getting nothing. I had my handheld ICOM radio nearby, and it was picking up transmissions, so I'll have to check with MGL tomorrow to see what I might be doing wrong. While I had the headset on, I flipped every switch that is active to date to see if I'm getting weird noises. Nothing so far. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that to continue.
