While waiting for the locks to show up, I started the rudder pedals. Assemble, Drill, Disassemble, Debur, Clean Prime (ADDDCP... a new acronym to toss around!) tomorrow the finial assembly starts.
Parts were assembled tonight. After I riveted them all together, I realized I had the shop head facing out .... doh! I really wanted the manufactured heads on the show side, i.e. where my feet will touch. Before I started to drill them out, I decided to try a little experement. I set the manufactured head in a AN4 round set mounted in a bucking block so as not to screw it up. I then hit the shop head with an AN4 set in the rivet gun fo a few quick hits. The second picture shows the before and after. Shiney round heads on both ends of the rivets ... perfect!
I think I will go back and coin the heads of the seat belt anchors that have the shop head facing out with the same technique. I have been bummed since I realized I had the nice manufactured head facing into the tunnel while installing the rear footwell floor.
