Brief Description: Research on wing-fuselage connectors.
My wiring in the fuselage is almost finished except for the wires that will connect to the wings. These wires include the pitot heat, aileron autopilot servo, OAT probe, and taxi, landing, and strobe lighting. I researched the VAF forum for wing to fuselage connection ideas looking for a connector that would be robust and waterproof.
I did not find what I was looking for, but I saw some of the ideas others had for connecting the wires with wing removal in mind. The easy way is not to have a connection and just cut the wires if one needs to remove the wings. My notion is to complete the fuselage and wing wiring in the garage before finding a hangar and then attaching the wings, therefore, the wing to fuselage connectors.
I finaly found some Molex connectors that Marc Ausman of Vertical Power recommended on his website. You can find the part numbers on the VP forum by using the search function. I ordered them through the Mouser Electronics website.
Molex male and female 16 pin connectors.
The connectors mated are about 2 7/8"L x 2 3/8" W x 1"D.
