Brief Description:  Researched VAF forum about OAT probe location.

Today, Sunday, we decided to take the day off from the garage and do some research on the internet. Dynon says to intall the Outside Air Temperature (OAT) probe in the plane where you will not have heat from engine exhaust or the engine itself, out of direct sunlight, or where the backside is not exposed to the heated cabin. They say under the wingtip or under the horizontal stabilizer are good locations on the RV series.

After searching VAF's forum I think I will install the D100 EFIS three wire OAT probe below the HS just in front of the right elevator horn inspection panel. The D180 EMS two wire probe will be mounted below the right wing on the second inspection panel.

Tomorrow I will drag out the EFIS harnesses and proceed to figure out how to run the wiring back to the two stacked remote compasses (EDC-10A) that are suspended in a bracket from the top two fuselage stringers in the tailcone. Oh, great, more wiring and crawling around the tailcone!
