Brief Description:  Bought some parts and installed TWC Flap Module.

On Monday I drove around town looking for some 1/2" clear heat shrink tubing but did not find any. I went to Fry's electronics for the heat shrink, Ronson butane refill for my mini butane torch, and three LED warning lights, but they were out of stock on all of it. What a waste of time and diesel! I found the LED lights at Radio Shack on the way home. That killed the morning so I decided to install the TWC Technologies IFC flap module after a light lunch.

The flap module is all solid state without any mechanical relays. You don't have to worry about the voltage spikes and eroding the relay contacts so that is why I bought it. I also bought the wiring harness that goes with it which saves a lot of headaches.

Installing the module became a problem of drillling four holes for #8 screws into the floor rib under the seat right seat. The rear two couldn't be reached with my eyes so I had to make an aluminum pattern for the screw holes so that I could center punch the rear holes. Ok, so far so good, until I went to drill the rear holes. I put my 90 degree air drill on the lower hole and drilled it but the top hole could not be reached with the drill, so I decided to connect the module with only three screws. Charlotte's little hands with a home made short Phillips screwdriver (taped a bit to a short socket extension) allowed her to hold the screw while I used a 11/32" socket from the tunnel to tighten the nylok nut. It took all afternoon and hurt our backs even with the rotating fuselage. Happy Hour came just in time!!
