Brief Description:  Crimper delivered and I try a fat wire crimp.

The Pro-Crimp fat wire crimper came in today. It cost $45 which included shipping from Amazon which is not bad considering I can crimp 8, 6, 4, and 2AWG terminals. It is made in Taiwan and seems to be well made.

I proceeded to crimp one end of Master Contactor to the Main Bat cable. I had already crimped the other end using the crimper at West Marine when I bought some terminals. The crimper punches a single crimp in the middle of the terminal (see picture below). I decided to add some pieces of solder in between the terminal and cable which I heated with a miniture butane torch after crimping to ensure a better electrical contact. I have small hands and I wish the handles were just a little longer. It took quite a bit of force to crimp the terminal so I figure with my strength I can do about 4 to 6 crimps per day (maybe). I put the terminal in the vice and gave good hard pull and it held without the slightest give. Now I can get on with the rest of the fat wire crimping.

Tomorrow I'm going to install the TWC Technologies IFC (Intelligent Flap Control) module.
