Brief Description: Finished Step drilling and drilled gear socket hol
My hole cutter kit was delivered by Avery Tools yesterday and I had cut the left step holes cut in minutes compared to hours for the right step. Today I patterned the step plate rivet holes and drilled them on the drill press. I then inserted the left step and clecoed the one hole into the F-724 bulkhead frame and clamped the torque tube in place in its plastic block, and then match drilled the fuselage skin. I deburred the holes and drilled the plastic block that will be bolted to the baggage rib holding the step torque tube. Still waiting for the angle drill bits from Avery to finish the job with the step kits. I'll get everything ready by priming the parts and then rivet the steps later. I need to be able to rotate the rotisserie and the steps prevent that.
The landing gear socket holes in the bottom forward fuselage skin were my next project. They were accomplished by making a paper pattern from Dwg. 34A and marking the oval hole with the blue sharpie. The cutters made short work of the holes (two 1/3/8" overlapping holes) which took out part of the wing spar flange as per the drawing. I'm waiting for delivery of the die grinder burrs before finishing the holes to size. I then drilled out the prepunched brake line hole to 5/8" using the unibit.
