Brief Description:  Worked on canopy latch.

Yesterday was spent on the internet doing some more research and reading about canopy problems. Found out some good information about fiberglass rear skirts. Seems that most guys are going the fiberglass routed instead of trying to form the rear skirts out of aluminum. It appears that to make them fit requires making compound curves using an English wheel. Since I don't have the equipment, I'm going the fiberglass method. I don't know fiberglass but I guess I'm going to get on-the-job training. Hope it's not too expensive for this training!

I put the canopy latch parts together and found that I needed to cut the canopy latch tube shorter to allow the latch to engage the latch pin on the roll bar. I measured 3/8" to cut off the canopy latch tube which I did with a hack saw since it was the easiest way to do it. I then filed and deburred the tube and put the canopy frame back on to check my measurement. I was right on, thank goodness. I could have added spacer washers if I had cut off too much, but it's always nice when you do something right.

Also ordered some fiberglass cloth and materials from Aircraft Spruce and some tools from Avery Tools. Ordering stuff really gets one back into the project again after our short little vacation.
