Brief Description:  Cut new canopy top cover and front strip.

Saturday, late in the day, my Van's order came in. I had ordered a AS3-032x12"x72" and some other parts. We decided that we would make a 3/4" strip of aluminum to sandwich the canopy between the strip and the front bow. All the other edges are sandwiched between metal so why not the front edge. It seems that it would help with temperature changes and would put less stress on the plexiglass. The first thing I did was to cut a 1" strip by 72" to redo the top cover strip that I had srewed up by drilling too big a hole for the latch tube. I match drilled it to the previous strip and had it completed in about a hour with the correct 1/2" latch tube hole.

We had already made a pattern for the front canopy strip piece, so I traced it onto the aluminum sheet and cut it out with the straight shear. It was curved but the straight shear did a good job. I then took it to the grinder and smoothed all the edges. Tomorrow I'll match drill it to the canopy from the inside out.
