Brief Description: Drilled side skirts to canopy frame.
Today we match drilled the side skirts to the canopy frame. One set of holes was drilled into the side canopy bows while the other row of holes were match drilled into the canopy plexiglass and the backing plate. Another row of holes will be match drilled into the canopy brace which I will cut lightening holes into for installation later.
Charlotte had to be enclosed into the cockpit to back-up the plexiglass backing plate using a piece of 2x4. Hopefully this stops the plexiglass from cracking when the drill punches through. It seemed to work ok but a few of the holes in the plexiglass had chips out of the back side of the hole. I think that by deburring the holes well most of the chips will be removed. It was about 86 degrees in the garage and much hotter in the enclosed cockpit! Good work, Sweetheart!!!
