We agonized over the engine control cable penetrations, not thinking much of Van's plastic bushings with RTV, the solution per the drawings. We considered rubber grommets with stainless steel covers but thought one might get gases seeping through. We finally decided that the stainless steel plates with aluminum swivle eyeballs, plus the RTV, would work the best. They will swivle up to 50 degrees which allows more options for placing the penetrations and mounting the cables.
The down side is that they are expensive at $30-38 apiece depending where you buy them. Avery Tools had a special that if you bought 3 or more they would sell for $30 each. I ordered four, three at 0.0260" diameter for the hole in the eyeball, and one at 0.188". The three are for the throttle, mixture, and prop while the other is for the cabin heat cable. Oh well, it's only money, grrrrr!!
Now to wait for delivery before more penetrations.
