I had ordered some tools from Avery Tools and they came in on Thrursday. I needed some plastic drill bits for the canopy and a Center-It pipe jig tool for the drill press for drilling round stock and tubes. I also ordered a couple of phenolic scrapers and die grinder 2" Scotchbrite discs to remove tank sealant from the wing tanks to accomplish the service bulletin to safety wire the fuel pick-ups inside the tank. Never enough tools!
I decided to order the Van's FWF kit with some of the items deleted. After reading a lot on Van's Air Force forum, I decided to delete the MT prop governor, the oil cooler, the 2" scat flange, the vibration isolation mounts, the exhaust system, and cabin heat selector. I ordered the exhaust system direct from Larry Vertterman, some Lord J9613-40 engine mounts from Aircraft Supply, and added a stainless steel cabin heat selector from Vans. I'm still trying to decide which oil cooler to order. I've been considering a automotive Setrab oil cooler which is less expensive and cools better than the Van's oil cooler or the Stewart Warner cooler (says the Forum). I'll order the prop governor when I decide which prop I want. I leaning toward the Whirlwind 200RV prop and Jihostroj governor.
