Brief Description:  Tried to install elevator pushrod.

I decided now was the time to install the elevator pushrod between the stick control colum and the bellcrank. This would allow me to finish the AP pitch servo installation. But Murphy's Law would not let me accomplish my mission today.

I had to remove the flap assembly to insert the pushrod (without its rod ends) into the tunnel through the holes in the F-705 and F-706 bulkheads. I finally got the tight fitting washers onto the bolts through the rod ends inside the clevis of the column and the bellcrank. Without the special tools for holding small washers that I bought from Avery Tools, it would have been extremly difficult. I moved the pushrod back and forth and heard it touching the bottom of the hole in the F-705 bulkhead. I may have said a bad word at about that time! Since it was Friday, I would have to wait until Monday to call Van's for builder assistance. I think that I can grind some metal off the thick strap at the bottom of the hole to get enough clearance.

I went ahead and installed the servo pushrod to the servo and bellcrank and discovered that the rod was not parallel and angled just enough to cause the rod jam nut to rub the bellcrank. Another bad word! I called Dynon and they said they knew about the problem and would send a longer bolt with a spacer to eliminate the problem. Great!! The postage would have been more than the bolt and spacer. Way to go Dynon, but why didn't you know about this before you sent the kit!
