Brief Description:  Install control sticks and hardware to fuselage.

We decided to place the control sticks and hardware into place while the cockpit area was still wide open. We found the parts and bolts, washers, and nuts etc. The control stick parts had some bushings at the base of the sticks that had to be ground to a slip fit into the WD-610 rod that connects both sticks together. Then the bushings had to be drilled out to 1/4" for the long bolts that hold the stick bases to the WD-610 rod. This took longer than I realized it would. One has to be sure not to grind off too much and to drill the bushings very correctly. The drill press vise had to be shimed to get things square before drilling. Using Boelube and a slow speed, I somehow managed not to screw up. Charlotte had all the hardware located by the time I finished the grinding and drilling. I then installed the sticks with the bolts, elusive washers, nuts, and cotter pins and found the smooth action that I've read and heard about. I then dismantled it all and taped the hardware into the various parts so that they would be readly available when permanently installing them.

Moving along and checking off items on the QB we got to the F-705 bulkhead assembly where fabricating parts for the seat adjustment was required. We have to remove parts to add parts. After searching for the aluminum angle and alcad shims, I cut the material to size per the drawing and then deburred the parts. Tommorrow, I'll clamp the parts to the bulkhead flange and match drill followed by the deburring, etc. and priming. Enough for a holiday Sunday.
