Brief Description:  Aligned the ailerons.

Before making adjustments to the aileron rods to align the ailerons, I had to align the sticks vertically in pitch and laterally parallel. I clamped the elevator to the horizontal stab to check the sticks for the correct position while I sat in the the seat. They were OK and slightly forward. The sticks were not parallel which I determined by sight and measuring between them at the base and top. I had to cut the aileron trim safety wires to the springs and then remove the bolts to the rod connecting the sticks. What a pain! It took a couple of hours, but I finally got them laterally parallel. I then jammed a 2 x 4 between the rib and stick on both sides to keep them from moving.

I loosened the jam nuts to the aileron rods inside the cockpit and in the inspection hole on the wings. After a few iterations of adusting the aileron rods and the wing rod end, I finally got the aileron to match the alignment fixture clamped to the wing end rib. I did the right aileron first and then moved the fixture to the left wing. I repeated the scenario for the left aileron. After completing the alignment the ailerons were within 1/16" of aligning with the flaps. Enough for one day! I'll tweak the flaps later to try for the perfect alignment.

Tomorrow the temp is supposed to reach 101 degrees. Great!!
