Brief Description:  Built my fuselage rotisserie.

I decided to build the rotisserie for the fuselage before moving it to the covered deck in the back of the house. I don't have enough room in the garage to put in my wife's car, which is a rule (pain in the you know where..) in our area. I found a metal warehouse and bought some 1"x2" x1/8" thick rectangular tubing. It came in a 12' length and I had them cut off a 4' piece to fit my pickup bed. I then went to Austin Bolt Co. and bought some bolts to assemble the tubing to the fuselage firewall and tail end bulkhead.

I cut the tubing with my hacksaw then drilled the holes on my drill press . Be sure to double check your hole measurements before drilling or you may be using your rat tail file to oval out the holes when assembling (of course I didn't do that). I can't give you exact dimensions since every QB might be slightly different, but this is not rocket science. I then drilled the holes into the faceplates of the engine stands.

I bolted the vertical and cross tubing to the firewall (remember to put in the bolts for the cross tube before bolting the vertical pieces to the engine mount holes) then then bolted on the engine stand faceplate. I then bolted the tubing to the tail end bulkhead and bolted on the faceplate. I used 3/4" wood spacers on the firewall. and 1 1/2" wood spacers on the tail end bulkhead to allow the tubing to clear the edges.

The whole process was time consuming but not difficult at all. The hardest part was to round up the parts. I kept misfiguring the bolt sizes for some reason and had to make 2 or 3 trips to the bolt store. The whole thing cost about $110, not counting the fuel I used to round up the items.

2 Harbor Freight engine stands (750 lb load) on sale for $29.99 each.
12' of 1"x2"x1/8" thickness for about $21.
Bolts, washers, lock washers, & nuts for about $20.
Plus tax on the above brings it to about the $110.
