Today I spent a lot of time trying to get the flaps adjusted down to the 40 degree position. Without my helper, Charlotte, I must have climbed in and out of the plane at least twenty times. I adjusted the right flap first by removing the bolt holding the upper rod end. I would adjust the lower rod end by rotating the rod and then adjust the upper rod end and reinstall the bolt. I quickly found out that the holes in the fuselage were not big enough. I used the die grinder to enlarge both sides to stop the rods from making contact with the holes. After a few iterations, I had them moving up and down with no contact. I finally got the right flap to the 40 degree position.
I repeated the same scenario with left flap. I left the hangar when the temp reached 99 degrees. I must have sweated a gallon of water.
Hard to see but the flap is down in the 40 degree position.
