Brief Description:  Started work on main gear wheel pants.

After returning from our anniversary respite at a B&B in Comfort, TX, Charlotte and I finished the nose wheel and gear leg fairings by adding the interface fairing at the leg fairing and cowling. We sanded the interface fairing to match the leg fairing width, and then screwed it to the cowiling using four #6 screws with Tinermann washers. We added four #6 nutplates inside the cowling to accept the screws.

We then began work on the main gear wheel fairings. The fore and aft wheel pant had to be opened up to go over the tire. We used 5/8" which is about a finger width all around the tire. Of course, this is an iterative process, cut then install, remove and cut some more, etc., until it seems to fit OK. The aft and foreward pant have to be slotted to go around the axle. Again, iterative, install/remove etc. Very time consuming and tedious but not that difficult when using a Dremel fiberglass cutting wheel and sanding drum. Of course, you must use a mask and faceshield while vacuming with the shop vac to prevent lung and eye damage.
