Brief Description: Installed gear leg fairing hinges.
Charlotte and I installed the fairing hinges today. A tedious and meticulous job it was. By following Vans instructions, we were able to clamp and then match drill the fairings and hinges while using clecoes to hold them in postion.
We deburred one hinge and then played tic-tac-toe with the clecos while we countersunk the fiberglass and then finally riveted the hinge to one inside face of the fairing. This was repeated with the other hinge on the other inside face of the fairing. Needless to say it was time consuming and seemed to require four hands, mine and Charlotte's. I was lucky that she was able to help today. After a long day we finished both main gear leg fairings. Of course, there is much more work to come on the leg fairings when we install the wheel pants and the interface fairings.
