Brief Description:  Continued gear leg fairing work.

This morning I temporarily installed the fairing to the gear leg and realized it was too long and covered the spiral bent brake tubing. After marking the area with my Sharpie, I used the Dremel and drum sanded out an area of the fairing to allow the brake tube exposure without touching the fairing. I installed an wheel pant interface fairing around the leg fairing and realized that the leg fairing would have to be shortened. This would eliminate the notch previously cut and would provide the brake tube a free path without touching the leg fairing.

I set aside the leg fairing and marked the piano hinges for rivet spacing and hinge length. Deciding how far from the fairing trailing edge to insert the hinges was a confusing decision for me. Vans drawings and instructions gave no dimensions or hints. I decided that 1/2" from the template line drawn on the fairing trailing edge looked about right. That would let the hinge spread to its "V" shape and allow the trailing edge lips to touch and be sanded smooth and straight. Tomorrow I'll start installing the hinges.
