Brief Description:  Updated Dynon equipment firmware.

I would like to say the update was easy, but that would not be true. I had to download the latest Dynon Support Program and drivers for a USB-to-serial converter cable. Then I had to read and reread the instructions quite a few times to comprehend. The order of updating was a little confusing to me until about the fourth reading. Then I had to connect the laptop which was straight forward. The D180 and D100 EFIS's updated without any problems.

The HS34 would not update because the program couldn't find it. It recommeded that I check my wiring. After a confusing hour of looking at my schematics, I finaly realized that I had two wires reversed in the Dsub9 that is connected to the GPS when not being used to update. I swapped positions with the wires and the HS34 updated. But the other half of the Dsub had to have its wires reversed. Garmin's wires are 26AWG and I pulled one out of its pin. It took 1 1/2 hours to fix it. Luckily, Charlotte fed me supper since my nerves were fried. After supper with renewed vigor, I updated the servos and the AP74 through the DSAB which must be configured from the Bus Master, the D180 in my case. I finally finished at 10:00PM and was really ready for sleep. I can only hope that it was my only and final firmware update! Why do I know it won't be?
