Brief Description:  Wired Dynon Smart Avionic Bus (DSAB).

Deciding how to wire the DSAB A & B circuits for the Dynon equipment just about drove me crazy. Essentially, these ciruits allow all the Dynon equipment to communicate to each other by shorting all the A wires together and all the B wires together. I had to decide how to do this with very little space available behind the panel. I finally came to the conclusion that using a 15 D-sub connector would make for a compact installation and allow troubleshooting later without cutting wires. The Dynon equipment harnesses all use D-sub connectors.

The female half of the connector contains all the A wires with sockets in holes 2 through 7 while the B wires are in holes 10 through 15 (see wiring schematic pictures below). The male half has pinned wires coming from the Dynon D180, D100, HS34, AP74, and the pitch and aileron autopilot servos. All the A wires in the female half are soldered together and all the B wires are soldered together to create the ganged short. The pinned green and blue wires come from the Dynon devices and are pinned into the female socket of the A wires and B wires, therefore, shorting all the DSAB A wires together and all the DSAB B wires together.

It took a couple of tries to fit all the wires and sockets into the female connector. I had to let the A wires extend out of the shell and then soldered them together and covered them with heatshrink. I did the same for the B wires. I put the male and female connectors together with small hexagonal threaded studs that I ordered from the Mouser Electronics website. The completed connector was double-stick taped to the subpanel and then zip tied through two drilled holes.

The pictures of the hand drawn schematic of the connector wiring is not too good. Sorry about that.
