Brief Description:  FAB top plate alignment and drilling

The goal was to get the FAB top plate cut back far enough to clear snorkle in lwr cowl and also to align the top plate with the snorkle and maintain proper edge distance for the 3/16" mounting bolts. This isnt so much difficult as it is time consuming and tiring.
I scribed a line of 1/4 inch around the top and bottom of the mounting plate as well as the top plate(the tennis racket thing). I traced that line with a marker. This I didnt do at first and was getting quite tired and frustrated. The process is: Clamp the top plate to the mount, Try to get lower cowl on ( if unabel cut top plate shorter etc etc), Once cowl goes on start aligning the top plate with snorkle, Take off the cowl, Carefully mark the position of top plate, un clamp top plate and check for proper edge distance for holes, When holes dont have the proper distance then start over! I did this process about 8 times! I will say this to any one ding the same... That pre drilled single hole in the aft end of top plate looks like it was meant to be an alignment hole with a predrilled hole in the mount. Im still not sure if it is or not but I could not get everything to work using it. Problem is, when I did get the plate positioned where I wanted it to be, that pre drilled hole was 1/8" from where I wanted to drill. I simply filled the hole with a flush rivit and drilled a new mounting hole 1/4 inch to the side and thru the mount and the top plate.
The 1st photo shows the alignment fof the top plate.
2nd photo shows how much I had to off set the top plate from the carb to the snorkle
3rd photo shows the 6 holes drilled in the top plate that will have plate nuts and bolts to secure assembly to the mount

I then mistakenly drilled the plate nut rivit holes into the mounting plate thinking the plate nuts were secured to the top...WRONG! plate nuts secure to bottom of the top plate. This is because ypu wont have access to bolt heads from underneath once the fiberglass shell is rivited to the top plate.
I then redrilled the plate nuts to the top plat
