Today was another contemplation session as I need to find a suitable location for the two pitch trim relays and the two roll trim relays, giving thought to wire runs to/from and future maintenance. I laid the four relays out on a piece of paper to determine the space needed. I tried a few different layouts until I had one with the smallest workable footprint, and I used that as a template to place around the cockpit floor area to find a good location. It was soon apparent that I could not keep all four relays together and would need to split them up, first looking at 2x2 and then 4x1. I decided on the four-in-line layout on the inner pilot seat rib location as that provides a good trade-off of space use, wire run, maintenance accessibility, and relay protection, as far as I can come up with.
Starting template
The rib looks flat but there are stiffening bumps to be avoided.
