Brief Description:  First Engine Run!! Continued

I called Jason @ Aerotronics and he provided some options to look at. He also pointed me in the direction of the wiring from the Elec Ign CB to the battery. I checked the fuse holder on the firewall side and it was blown. Jason suggested upping that fuse to 10 amps. He also suggested calling Klaus @ LightSpeed for more suggestions, since the fuse was blown. This indicated to me that power was getting to the coil packs. Jeff was able to find some 10 amp fuses and one was installed.

I talked with Klaus and he said to call him after I phase the system and read the manual.

Somehow I had forgotten that section in the LightSpeed manual about phasing the system. We pulled out the bottom plugs (again!) and took off the top ignition wires from the plugs and the coil packs. The prop was positioned at top dead center of the #1 cylinder. The Master switch was turned on and the key switch placed in the Elec position. The prop was moved back and forth quickly and sparks flew between the two terminal ends on the left coil pack. This indicated that the wires from the left pack should be placed on the #1 and #2 cylinders. The right pack runs the #3 and #4 cylinders. The top ignition wires were laid out again according to size and connected appropriately. The bottom plugs were reinstalled and torqued, along with the ignition wires.

Engine Start #3 commenced with no problems. The rpms indicated normally, oil pressure rose to 65 psi, fuel pressure 7.1 psi and voltage was 14.3 V. A mag check was done at 1700 rpm, with a minimal drop of 20-30 rpm noted on each. After six-seven minutes of running, the engine was shut down.

First Engine Start Finally Successful!!
