Brief Description:  Fiberglassed Extensions into Lower Cowling

The lower cowling needs to have extensions fiberglassed into the lower cowling between the air inlets and the prop. Nutplates will be riveted to the extensions for attaching screws thru the upper cowl.

The upper cowl had duct tape applied in the area where the extensions will be made, so the fiberglass does not stick. The lower cowl area was sanded using 80 grit paper to rough it up. The two cowl halves were fastened together with the camlocs. The center sections were duct-taped together to make sure that the cowling was tight.

I taped a small sheet of plastic onto a plastic cutting board and drew the outline of the fiberglass extensions on the plastic. The extensions will be made out of the ends that were cut off the fairing strips. Each extension will be six bids thick, 3" x 5", to start.
