Brief Description:  Windshield Fairing Laid up

Epoxy resin was brushed on the black tape and Bondo on the fuselage and windshield areas. After the first six layers of cloth were wetted with epoxy resin, they were laid in position on the fuselage. A short plastic piece had been inserted on the lower left side between the second and third layer of cloth. This allowed me to pull them apart and place the roll bar fairing between the two sections of cloth. The lower left side was duct-taped to the fuselage attempting to keep the cloth in the proper position and allowing the new fiberglass to glue to the roll bar fairing. The same method was then used to apply the right side of fiberglass.

Plastic sheets had been placed between the fiberglass strips in the center as well. Unfortunately, the left side set up too quickly. When the right side was applied to the fuselage, the center area of the left side was too stiff to allow the right side to be inserted for a proper joining of the two sides. I also found that the strips were too long and the joining of the strips in the center did not match up. I used the Kevlar scissors and cut the center section of the left side off. The center section of the right side was just laid over the center area of the left side.
