Brief Description: Drilled Out Two Rivets in Tank Ribs
Dave Ross pulled doubler off bad rivet on #4 rib at leading edge. Cleaned Proseal off that tab. Worked with Dave to correct this problem. Dave drilled out rivet and made a doubler out of .050 stock. He then used deburring tool to create a larger countersink area for dimple to rest in. Doubler was curved to match bend in flange. Found that leading edge rivet in rib #3 was bad. Drilled that one out and made another doubler as well. Decided to not backrivet any more. Next step will be to Proseal bottom of ribs 3 & 4, and with tank in the cradle, rivet ribs with rivet gun and Keith Woodell's swivel rivet set. Need to rivet the two doublers into place. Also need to rehit next three rivets to try to set the heads down a little better.
