Brief Description: Finished riveting canopy deck/Elevators' range
I finished riveting the rest of the right canopy deck to the fuselage and the instrument sub-panel to the bracket attaching it to the canopy deck.
I took off the rudder. Tightened the nuts on the rod-end bearings on the rudder and applied torque seal to each nut. Emmett and I worked on determining the range of movement of the elevators. Using a protractor, we determined that the elevators were level at 4 degrees. The range of movement is up: 25-30 degrees and down: 20-25 degrees. We gradually trimmed away the tongue of the angle spacer F-612B, eventually trimming almost all of the tongue to attain 28 degrees up movement of the elevators. We estimate that up to 3/16" will have to be trimmed from the spacer F-611A and the bottom flange of the HS rear spar to get 22-23 degrees down movement of the elevators. The elevators are currently limited to about 12 degrees down motion.
