Brief Description:  Enlarged Fuselage Holes/Fuel Line Supports

The fuselage holes for the fuel lines were enlarged to one inch diameter for the rubber grommets. The left fuel line was put in place and, with Gary Palinkas' help, found that the line ran thru the fuselage hole a little too high. A slight bend was put into it on the leg just before the bend thru the fuselage. This lowered the fuel line. The left support cover was trimmed for the fuel line around the floor bracket.

Two top spar bolts were tapped out. These bolts will be put back in place with the side supports. I noticed that the nuts on the bolts were bottomed out on the bolt and the nut threads were cut. The bolt was too long for twelve holes. I found that a second washer was needed to prevent this. This was the reason why I had problems torqueing the bolts and nuts. Fourteen of the nuts were removed and discarded. An additional washer was added to twelve bolts with new nuts installed and all were torqued to 240 in-lbs. Another torque table was used that specified the NAS 1306 bolts with AN365 nuts. This process went much more easily.

The left side fuel line support cover was drilled for the spar bolt, and then drilled to the floor stiffener for two #8 screws. The floor stiffener was drilled for two nutplates. The rivet holes were countersunk using a #10 bit in the angle drill. The nutplates were riveted with the hand squeezer.
