I trimmed the outboard corner bracket for the right cowl inlet ramp. I riveted the angle bracket and the other two brackets to the left inlet ramp. John McCreight helped me rivet the right inlet ramp together. I screwed both ramps back into place on the engine.
John helped me enlarge a hole for the throttle in the firewall. The existing hole was 5/8", per the plans if snap bushings would be used. I am using steel firewall passthroughs for the throttle and mixture. I used the 1 1/8" hole cutter with a 1/4" bit to drill into a block of wood held by John. The wood block allowed me to drill the larger hole in the firewall for the steel passthrough, as well as move it upward by about 1/4" or more. I drilled the 1/8" screw holes in the firewall for the passthrough and cleaned up the edges of the firewall with files and the die grinder. The throttle and carb heat cable were installed and screwed to the control bracket on the instrument panel. I placed a snap bushing in the firewall hole for the carb heat cable. The plans call for a second, smaller snap bushing to be placed inside the first bushing for the cable. The hole was already drilled to 3/8". I would have to enlarge the hole to 5/8" diameter in order to use the smaller bushing. I cut out part of the side of a smaller bushing and attempted to insert it in the larger bushing, but it did not work. Snap bushings were placed in the cable holes in the center fuselage cover in the cockpit.
