Brief Description: Riveted One End of Control Rod F-690
Emmett Starks took aft top skin off and used Scotchbrite pad to rough up the inside. Measured and cut off five inches of the control rod F-690, which goes between the bellcrank and the elevator horns. Smoothed one edge and inserted VA-101. Found the circumference to be 4.87''. Laid out a strip of painter's tape and marked off eight marks 1/4'' from the edge every 5/8''. The tape was then laid around the end of the rod. We used the drill press to drill pilot holes and then #30 holes for the pop-rivets. Used the pop-rivet puller to rivet the VA-101 in place.
