I spent a couple of days doing the final smoothing out of the spar cap troughs.
I've been not 100% sure how deep to make these and all the lining up work and then UNI tape layup tests. In the end I went with the templates which are pretty rough and then a little deeper. I really want to ensure I get enough glass in those caps plus a touch extra.
I'll be heavier than plans at times MAUW with extra fuel loads and this is not the place to save weight although I don't want anything that doesn't also add strength. I am very happy with the specs of my Colon 080 UNI tapes which come out much stronger than the spruce tapes, better quality and my tapes are pretty close to S glass stength and modulus.
