Brief Description:  Strake17.4 Waterline

This step was just marking out the waterline for the strakes at WL17.4. More to the point it needs to match up with the inboard end of the wing at BL55.5.

Using a laser allowed me get a red line on the wing inboard end along the spar and up the fuselage side. The fuselage is slightly nose up which is just how it worked out relative to the canard and wings being at zero. I noted this at the time and just set the jack under the fuse to match this. The result is that the marked waterline rises about .3"at the pointy end compared to the spar. All good.

Pic 3 shows me getting the 17.4 line from the top of the spar - another datum. Of course this varies a little due to the top spar layup hardpoints where its a little thicker.

I marked lines on the red laser light and joined them later to get my straight lines on the spar and fuselage. For the side without a wing on I found that the spar probably twists slightly with the weight of the wing, even though its supported at the tip end. Despite the spar being level in the middle I found a small variation at the left tip (without the wing)

I've bookmatched the lines on the fuselage to the left side. Unfortunately, I think I need to get the left wing back on to confirm the 17.4 location on the wing itself and then transfer this to the spar to be 100% sure. That is a big job and needs a morning and three other helpers.
