Brief Description:  Nose gear faring layup

With the glass all cut I went ahead with my fancy sounding Quasi-Isotropic layup. From what I have read this layup schedual will make a part less likely to bend than just 5 plys of BID in the same orientation. This faring I hope will work to help slow the plane down when I drop the gear, it is going to have to be strong to withstand 90 knots or so of the relative wind.

I did it on plastic per pic 1 and then peel ply and more plastic. I cut it well oversized and layed it on the nose gear section that had the laminex taped to it to give me my shape. This part will be removable from the gear leg and 'floating' when in place.

I'll let you know how it works out. This is certainly involved for just a faring and there is more to come.
