Brief Description:  Nose gear box 1

This isn't in the plans but I've put it in the nosegear chapter. Maybe it should be in Ch24 for fairings. Who cares? I need to ensure no cold air gets in the cockpit so everything gets a cover, thats the important thing. This also needs to be removable for servicing the electric gear.

I played around with cardboard in pic 1 until I had something that makes sense. There are many ways to skin this cat and I'm looking for the simplest I can think of. So thats flat surfaces glued together rather than making a mold like the nose wheel box.

I then glassed a really big piece of 1/4" foam just on the one side. I can make lots of things out of that. You can see I've cut out the two side pieces in pic 2. I hotglued them together after making the first one and trimed with sanding sticks so they are a matched set and then used a warm knife to separate. I'm still loving the hot glue.

Pic 3 shows that they might just work out. Once at this stage its easier for me to see the next bit. Often the plan changes as things progress. I can now see that aluminium inside corners with nut plates all floxed and riveted on will work a treat to seal the edges at the same time. I guess it will become clearer when I have some pics to show you.

I'm doing this job while still working on the front seat. Its getting to the point in the build where I can do a few tasks together so that cure cycles don't hold things up.
