Brief Description:  Canard bottom spar Cap

The bottom spar cap took 7 plys in the end. I had Jeff Brooks, an EZ driver, who was a very capable partner for this layup. Thanks Jeff.

Pic one shows the dry unbound rovings. I have no idea how people do this on their own. We have 31 bundles and each is held at one end and pulled at the other so they sit correctly as in pic one. There are really 32 bundles in the length but thats 3.1" wide and I went for the exact 3" so one strand bundle was removed.

Pic 2 shows the nice colour as things get wetted out.

Pic 3 and we are all done, peel plyed some plastic, foam blocks and then the weights. The bottom plys must be partly cured by the time we get to this step but its all OK. The room will be kept at 26-28C for 24 hours and then I'll call it cured.

The troughs are filled right to the tops and will need a slight careful sand and clean up before skinning. Its a good structural layup. No excess epoxy, no air that we could see and it should be very strong.
