Brief Description:  CS Spar Outer Sheer web 1

This is the outer sheer web layup and it all happened 18/3/14. I've split it into two entries to make the log happy.

I was again assisted my Michael and Darren or I assisted them as these guys know their way around layups. This one is 4 plys of UNI with two pieces per ply then hardpoints are added and everything got peel plyed in the end. It took 6 hours, yes longer than I though it would, but a great job was done. It's worth a bit of fuss on such an important part.

The room was heated overnight to 28C and it ended up around 30C which is a good temp for this work. We lifted one half of the first layup, established it over the center with the bias within spec and straight and then the other half with a careful butted join. Once that is wetted out we worked on the sides.

As you can see in pic 3 the roller is pretty handy for this sort of work with the usual squeegy method to finish off. There was lots of trimming at the bottom and a real effort on every ply to get the fibers as correct as we could.

As usual air under a layup is the enemy and some care was made to ensure no bubbles and a nicely wetted out surface on each ply yet the coirrect glass to resin ratio.. This UNI over the caps had the look of trapped air but I'm confident we are all good.
