Brief Description:  Main Gear Tabs V3 setup

This is my third attempt to get the main gear tabs manufactured successfully. By now I really didn't need to look at the plans for the whole thing. I did check now and again. The only benefit in doing this step three times is knowing now I just need to do the work well and get my methods correct.

I made slightly longer tabs this time as the size of them doesn't really matter and better not to be caught short. For some reason setting the angle took AGES this time, Darren and I eventually got things positioned correctly. It was our third go after all and we did know where to measure from and what to do.

The third pic show the tabs in position and off the fuselage ready for the next step. I did make little ears on the tabs with the idea of spacers to ensure I got the glass layup thickness exactly right. In reality I'd need much longer side tabs to do this. It may have been worth doing to help the clamping.

It does underline the need to come up with ideas to do the various steps and not rely on the plans to supply the method. There are much better ways to do things acurately after a bit of thought and the legacy of the plans was to make it easy. I just want it RIGHT and I don't care about a bit extra effort.
