The first pic shows that the brake is an OK fit to the curve of the fuselage. This is the main thing I'm trying to achieve.
In the second shot you can see the core is not damaged too badly by its removal. The size here is not critical. I want about an inch glass to glass at the edges and a nice thick core for strength.
I've left the edges a bit oversized so I can play around with the sizes later. The only edge that needs to be correct now is the one where the hinge will go.
