Brief Description:  Installing copper tape groundplane

In adding a provision for a cargo pod, I had to move my comm antenna mounting locations from their original site under the baggage compartment. I decided to put one under the right wing and one on top of the tailcone. The problem with this strategy was due to the location of the magnatometer I was limited to where I could put the antenna. Turns out the best location taking that into account was just behind the canopy. Unfortunately that created another problem -- not enough ground plane for the antenna. My solution to that was to create the required ground by extending the plane out onto the fiberglass canopy using copper foil tape. I routed out some shallow channels in the canopy and cut the adhesive backed foil to length and laid it in the channels. The three tapes cross at the point where the antenna's BNC connector passes through the tailcone.
