Brief Description:  Baggage Area

The baggage area was mostly an uneventful install. I did install wiring conduit as a mod on both side of the fuse. This involved a little noodle scratching to figure out how the conduit would run and required the fabrication of brackets to hold the aft ends of the conduit. This is where a short cut designed to save time and access aggravation later on can bite you in the butt. I stated during the tailcone attach that I had installed the pitch servo which meant I also installed battery/elevator bell crank mount. Well, that was a good idea except that I didn’t realize that the baggage bulkhead channel needed to be riveted on to the right side bell crank rib. The channel couldn’t be installed with the battery mount in-place so that meant it had to come out which also meant that pitch servo had to come out ----argggghhhhh!!!! That in turn caused another, more expensive problem. I had loctited the torque enhancer to the output shaft and managed to break of the small screw that acts as a shear pin. I then proceeded to strip the main screw and basically butchered the output shaft getting it off. So, I shipped it off it TruTrak and they replaced the output shaft and I had it back a week later. In the meantime, I installed the baggage channel and partially reinstalled the battery mount. Once the servo was back I finished the installation which was a little different. TruTrak changed the design of the servo output shaft. Originally it was drilled and tapped for a screw—now it’s externally threaded for a nut. Of course I didn’t have a 628 sized locknut so had to order from Spruce.
