Brief Description:  Match drill spar caps to spar

VS step 2. Match drill the spar caps to the 1003 spar--sounds simple enough. Enter major confidence shaker #2. In an efferot to have perpendicular holes, as per the plan, I opted to use my drill press to perform the operation. After 2 atttempign to drill 2 holes that enlongated in the spar without even penetrating the cap, I gave up and stopped right there. How the heck was I going to complete the plane if I couldn't even get the first 2 steps done right? After about 30 min of soul searching I decided that soemthing in my shop wasn't right. I knew my skills were more than adequate so maybe it wasn't me but something in my tool setup. Sure enough I discovered that A) my bandsaw blade was dull and not tracking properly, and B) the lone 1/8 drill bit that I had attempted to use had seen better days as well. A quick trip to Home Depot remedied the problem. A quick test on some scrap confirmed that I had indeed discovered the source of my problems--confidence restored!
