Brief Description: First Flight

I took off early in the morning, when it was cool and calm. Take-off and climb-out was great, except for very high oil temperatures - a little over red line, I got over Whidbey island and noticed fuel pressure was a little high, and a battery system warning, so I cut the test short, did a few stalls - flaps up and down to determine my landing speeds, some turns and came back to Paine field in a bit of a hurry. After getting tower clearance to enter the airport airspace the radio quit working (operator error - the Garmin radio has a really silly feature, if you press the radio flip flop on the stick for 2 seconds it locks to 121.5 and I couldn't remember how to unlock it) prior to getting final landing clearance, so that was a bit disconcerting while I was trying to handle the other problems and fly a good pattern. I got the radio problem worked out before I hit anything, and got landing clearance in time for a OK landing. All was good fun, now I have to work out the bugs, I think the battery is a non-issue, the high fuel pressure is ok and I am going to try the open up the oil cooler inlet as much as I can tomorrow morning with a cutting wheel. The airplane handled really well and the visibility is awesome. Wahoo!!
