The only area of the kit that I was uncertain about the strength, was the horizontal shear tie from the base of the roll bar to the fuselage longeron. The kit specifies 3 CCPQ-42 rulled rivets(1/8" dia stainless steel). I have no analysis to back this up, but I wanted to increase the strength of this area, especially for any inboard component of the load which would only be reacted by a pull out load on the rivet upset head. I installed a stainless steel 3/16" dia step stud in the fuselage longeron and drilled a matching hole in the bottom of the roll bar basd (needs a drain hole here anyway). The 3/16 dia hole in the longeron is acceptable since there are allready same size holes just aft due to the canopy rail. The roll bar now slides over the stud and should increase the strength of the attachment in the horizontal plane.
