Trial fitted both C8A and mounted canopy frame. Rough log says this is crisis #102 of the forward hinged canopy, but it isn't that bad. I had made the port C8 a bit taller, as my latch is mounted too low. Make yet another C8A, leaving enough stock to make maybe one more if needed. Maybe.
Figure out the canard has to be off to actually bolt on the canopy hinges, so remove and store the canard.
Measure forward 200mm from the canopy gas strut mount and find the longeron mount should be around F.S. 37! That can't be! The plans also state the forward mount is about 3" forward of the instrument panel, and this is way forward of that. Then have the idea that the OPEN strut determines how far the canopy will open, so prop the canopy at a pleasing angle and see that it is 45 degrees, and this places the forward mount about F.S. 36.1, much closer to both plans values. Hmmmmm.
Occurs to me that most builders are juggling a canopy with the clear bits fitted at this point. Crikey!
