Brief Description: Lower cowling baffles. Oil check door replacement
Place baffles into lower cowl, and am left baffled. There is just bad Feng Shui on the air flow. Play around with the cardboard templates, and decide to make a compound effort. I cut the baffles just aft of where the sloping baffle goes, and line up the forward portions with the line of the diffuser, then turn the aft part back towards where the plans version would end up. Might work. Sloping baffle is now too short... Make a little brace to tape to the back to hold it at 60 degrees. [Timewarp: make that 55.5 degrees]
Note that the aft baffle should line up with the engine baffling, which I'm not planning on having. Decide to put it in anyway.
Mount old oil check door to hinge and trial fit and it is a disaster. One side is higher than the other, it doesn't close properly and it is off center with a hideous gap between the hinge and the cowling opening. F&%k! Apply some heat, pop off the clickbonds and reset.
