Brief Description: Drill holes in rudder nose skin
|
|
1st I double checked the alignment of the rivet line in the center nose skin rib to make sure that the holes would like up with the rib. at the same time, I chose the location of the rivets for the rib, measuring from the edge of the rear skin, the rivets were at 10, 45, 85, 135, and 175-mm.
Then with the rudder supported in the jig described on 6/6, I pushed the nose skin into position and taped it at the top as described in the Photo Assembly Manual.
Next, I positioned the nose skin rib as described in the manual, taped the bottom of the nose skin in place, then tapped the nose skin to a position normal to the spar.
Finally, I drilled the holes to attach the skin to the spar, starting the in middle, drilling every other one out towards the ends, clecoeing, and finally, drilling the intermediate holes.
I also drilled the holes through the bottom of the rear skin into the spar.
