Brief Description:  Break-in flight, oil leak

Took a break-in flight of a little more than an hour. Tried not to have fun but failed miserably. Noted oil pressure a little lower than in previous flights. I can think of no explanation for this.

Returned to hangar and noted the usual oil drips on the floor. Drained oil, took sample for analysis. Removed quick-drain and verified the O ring really does not fit well. See photos. Identified the brand and found that A/S carries the proper O ring. A/S also carries proper brass plug to replace the quick-drain entirely. I am favoring that option.

Removed and checked oil screen, found it very clean, one tiny silver chip. Removed oil pressure check valve and cleaned.

Noticed what appears to be some sludge or debris in bottom of oil tank. I will flush it before refilling.

Noted oil dripping from forward area of crankcase bottom. Removed induction tubes and left and right lower baffles. Noted seepage through crankcase seam. Interestingly, this area appears to have been externally sealed with a gray or brown substance in its previous life. This makes me suspicious that there is a slight mismatch in the mating surfaces in this area. I will re-torque the bolts, and research a modern-day sealant to attempt an external repair. Possibly ProSeal.
